Generative AI must be used responsibly and in accordance with good scientific practice. Ensure that your article reflects your own expertise and is based on reliable sources you have personally reviewed. The article must be written by you, and you are responsible for its content.

Always consider ethical aspects. AI-generated content may be biased or harmful, or reinforce existing harmful stereotypes.

Permitted Uses

Before Writing:

  • Ideation: Selecting the topic and perspective.
  • Information Search: Preliminary outlining and keyword brainstorming.

During Draft Development:

  • Requesting Feedback: For example, tips on considering the target audience.
  • Structuring and Editing: Improving overall structure, language quality, fluency, titling, and summarization.

Restrictions and Responsibilities

  • AI-generated text must not be presented as the author’s own work.
  • AI cannot be listed as an author of the publication.
  • AI generated information is not suitable as a source unless the article specifically addresses AI-generated content. All references must follow LAB’s citation guidelines.
  • All AI-generated content must be verified by the author.
  • Copyright laws must be respected.

Use of Images

If AI is used to create illustrations, always comply with the terms of the AI service and follow the guidelines of the publication channel.

Disclosure Requirement

If AI has been used in the publication, the following must be clearly stated at the end of the article:

  • How AI was used (e.g., ‘Feedback on the article’s content was requested from AI’).
  • How the authors verified AI-generated parts.

Use of AI for language editing, translation, or improving fluency does not require separate mention.

Important Notice

Before submitting material to AI, check the service’s terms of use and ensure you have the right to use the material. Do not provide your own material to AI unless you are ready to publish it.
